Chelsea Plot Surprise Swoop for Ethan Nwaneri
Chelsea’s summer rebuild could be given a serious shot in the arm, with reports suggesting Arsenal are now open to selling midfielder Ethan Nwaneri — and the Blues are firmly in the frame.
Arsenal Ready to Cash In
According to Caught Offside, the Gunners are willing to part ways with the 18-year-old despite him having a contract in place until 2030. A fee of around £40 million is believed to be enough to get the deal done — a relatively modest sum for a player of his undeniable talent.

Nwaneri famously became Arsenal’s youngest-ever first-team player when he debuted at just 15. He showed flashes of brilliance during Bukayo Saka’s injury absence last season, but never truly nailed down a regular starting spot under Mikel Arteta. A loan spell at Olympique de Marseille in January yielded only three goal contributions in four starts — hardly a ringing endorsement.
Why Chelsea Need Him
The Blues had a season to forget and are now preparing for life under Xabi Alonso. With Cole Palmer the only natural number ten at Stamford Bridge — and hampered by injury throughout the campaign — Chelsea desperately need creative reinforcements.
Nwaneri fits the bill. A left-footed attacking midfielder who can also operate on the right flank, he brings versatility and enormous long-term upside.
Chelsea have tried to sign Nwaneri twice before, so the interest is genuine and longstanding. At £40m, this looks like outstanding value if the Blues can fend off competition from Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, and AC Milan. Under Alonso’s guidance, Nwaneri could finally get the consistent game time needed to fulfil his potential. Don’t be surprised if this one gets done.
