Yankuba Minteh Emerges as Liverpool’s Affordable Summer Target
Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh as they look to rebuild their frontline this summer, according to Caught Offside.
Who Is Yankuba Minteh?
The 21-year-old Gambian winger has had quite the journey to the Premier League. After coming through the ranks at Bakoteh United and Steve Biko, Minteh moved to Danish side OB in 2022 before Newcastle snapped him up. The Magpies sent him on loan to Feyenoord, where he caught the eye with 15 goal contributions in 27 Eredivisie appearances, prompting Brighton to secure his signature.

His time at the Amex has been inconsistent, but the raw talent is undeniable.
Why Are Liverpool Interested?
With Mohamed Salah gone as a free agent and uncertainty surrounding both Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa, Arne Slot’s side desperately need wide reinforcements.
Liverpool’s primary target is Yan Diomande of RB Leipzig, but the German club are demanding a staggering £112 million — a fee that’s seemingly pushed the Reds towards exploring cheaper alternatives.
Liverpool reportedly want Minteh for no more than £40 million, though Brighton — with his contract running until 2029 — hold all the cards.
Minteh hasn’t consistently delivered in the Premier League, but his pace, directness, and pressing ability could make him an ideal fit under Andoni Iraola’s high-intensity system. At the right price, this could be a smart long-term play from Liverpool.
The Reds have also shortlisted Barcola, Summerville, Fernandez-Pardo, and El Mala — so competition for that wide berth is fierce.
