Tottenham Target Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi: Could £30m Midfielder Solve Spurs’ Creative Crisis?
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly plotting a move for Inter Milan’s underutilized midfielder Davide Frattesi, as Ange Postecoglou seeks solutions to his side’s midfield struggles.
Why Frattesi Could Be Available
The 26-year-old Italian international finds himself in a frustrating situation at San Siro. Despite making a £30m permanent move from Sassuolo in July 2024, Frattesi has managed just 198 minutes of action this season. With Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Nicolò Barella blocking his path, regular football remains elusive.

Yet when opportunities arise, Frattesi delivers. His Champions League semi-final winner against Barcelona last season proved he possesses the quality to shine on football’s biggest stages. That moment of brilliance hasn’t translated into consistent starts under Simone Inzaghi, making a 2026 departure increasingly realistic.
Tottenham’s Midfield Needs
According to Turkish journalist Ekrem Konur, Spurs have registered serious interest in bringing Frattesi to North London. The timing makes sense. Postecoglou’s midfield has looked overwhelmed in crucial fixtures, particularly during heavy defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea where they were second-best throughout.
While Tottenham boast options like João Palhinha, Rodrigo Bentancur and emerging talent Archie Gray, they lack a midfielder offering technical control, defensive bite and goal threat simultaneously. Frattesi ticks those boxes, capable of operating as a midfield pivot, attacking midfielder or even as a lone defensive anchor.
Battle for His Signature
Competition promises to be fierce. Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are all monitoring the situation, whilst Juventus could complicate matters with a potential swap deal involving Khéphren Thuram.
For Tottenham, Frattesi represents an opportunity to add Champions League-proven quality without breaking the bank. Whether they can beat their rivals to his signature remains the £30m question.
