Ashes 5th Test: Rain ruins Australia victory hope

Australia’s hopes of winning in their Ashes finale against England were left after due to the bad weather, rain washed out the fourth day’s play at The Oval on Saturday.

Conditions was worse throughout the day, rain with dark skies. The umpires abandoned play at 15:06 GMT.

Australia were seeking a first win in this series, but The weather was ruins their hopes.

England with 3-0 up, won the five-match series and retained the Ashes, were 246 for four at stumps on the third day in reply to Australia’s first innings 492 for nine declared.

England were 245 runs behind and still need 46 runs to avoid the follow-on. Ian Bell was 29 not out and Test debutant Chris Woakes unbeaten on 15.

Australia now have to take 16 wickets for victory on Sunday’s final day, which is quite tough task due to the weather conditions.
