Manchester United Eye Major Wage Cut in Casemiro Contract Extension Talks

Red Devils Prepare New Deal With Significant Salary Reduction

Manchester United are reportedly preparing to offer Casemiro a contract extension that would see the Brazilian midfielder accept a dramatic wage reduction from his current £375,000-per-week salary.

According to Ekrem Konur, the Red Devils are readying a proposal worth between £120,000-£150,000 per week—a substantial decrease that reflects the club’s efforts to streamline their wage structure while retaining key performers.

From Nearly Departed to Indispensable

The transformation in Casemiro’s fortunes has been remarkable. Just months ago, fans were calling for his exit after a series of underwhelming performances. Fast forward to today, and the 32-year-old has become one of United’s most consistent performers under new manager Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese boss has reportedly urged the club’s hierarchy to secure Casemiro’s future, with the midfielder forming an impressive partnership alongside Bruno Fernandes in the heart of United’s engine room.

The Contract Conundrum

Casemiro’s current deal expires at the end of this season, and whilst United hold an option to extend by 12 months, they’re pursuing a fresh agreement instead. The proposed contract would run until the summer of 2027, but only if the former Real Madrid star accepts the significant pay cut.

Will He Stay or Will He Go?

The decision now rests squarely on Casemiro’s shoulders. Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr are reportedly monitoring the situation and could offer considerably more lucrative terms than United’s proposal.

However, his renewed form and apparent happiness under Amorim suggest the midfielder may prioritise sporting ambition over financial gain. After rejecting departure last summer, Casemiro has proven he still has plenty to offer at the highest level.

Whether he’s willing to sacrifice such a substantial portion of his salary to continue his Old Trafford renaissance remains the burning question facing Manchester United’s rebuilding project.
