Everton closing in on Leicester winger Abdul Fatawu

Everton have set their sights on Abdul Fatawu, with the Leicester City winger attracting strong interest from Goodison Park ahead of the transfer deadline. The Toffees are reportedly prepared to pay £15 million for the 21-year-old Ghana international and are confident a deal can be wrapped up within the next week.

Standing at 5’10”, Fatawu made just 12 appearances for Leicester since his €10 million move, featuring only 11 times in the Premier League last season. With limited opportunities under Enzo Maresca, the pacy wide man is now keen on a fresh start.

From Ghana to the Premier League

Fatawu’s rise began in 2022 when Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon signed him as an 18-year-old talent. After a year in Portugal, Leicester came calling – and he made a significant impact in the 2023/24 Championship season, scoring six goals in 40 matches to help the Foxes secure promotion.

However, his Premier League campaign didn’t follow the same trajectory. Struggling for game time, the winger is eager to find a club where he can reignite his career.

Everton’s Plans for Fatawu

Manager David Moyes is keen to bolster his attacking options, particularly with a loan move for Manchester City star Jack Grealish close to completion. Fatawu is seen as an ideal understudy – bringing raw pace, direct dribbling, and energy off the bench, while also offering long-term potential for the Merseyside club.

With Everton actively pushing for the deal, Fatawu could soon find himself swapping the King Power Stadium for Goodison Park – ready to play a supporting role in Moyes’ new-look attack.
